One of my favorite fitness quotes is, “Any trainer can make you sweat, but not every trainer can make you better”. I have always been a hardworking and motivated individual ever since I was young and I want that to reflect on my attitude as a Strength Coach. My goal at RAPT is simple, to make everyone I work with improve from one day to the next in all aspects of strength, speed, and power; as well as in confidence. I am willing to do whatever it takes for you to reach your short and long term goals. I am approachable as a trainer and my aim is to make any individual feel confident and comfortable in a fitness setting.

TRAINER Q & A:

QUESTION: How would you describe your younger self? How did you stay fit and active?

JOSH J: I was constantly outside, whether it be an athletic event or playing with my sister.  I played soccer, baseball and basketball through middle school.  When I wasn't at a game, you could also find me skateboarding or riding my BMX bike over the dirt jumps my dad had built for me.

QUESTION: What do you wish people knew about RAPT?

JOSH J: That we will train ANYONE that walks in the door.  People are so intimidated by gyms and trainers that they don't give it a chance.  If you come in with a good attitude and are willing to try something new, then you will love this place.  We are a very approachable group of Strength coaches and will do anything to help.

QUESTION: Are there any sports figures that you admire or look up to?

JOSH J: My favorite sports figures growing up were Ken Griffey Jr, Dave Mirra, Tony Hawk and Ronaldo.  In my opinion, they were genuine role models that truly loved what they did.

QUESTION: What is your favorite cheat meal?

JOSH J: Chicken, Bacon & Ranch Pizza

QUESTION: Describe some of your best moments as a RAPT coach:

JOSH J: Anytime someone hits a big lift in the gym or hits a goal, it's very exciting.  A few that come to mind is when Jake Lovell hit a 265 Hang Clean, or when Colleen Reilly put 125 lbs over her head on a Split Jerk from the blocks.  I've also had some awesome experiences where I've seen someone do their first body weight pull up or push up for the first time.  It doesn't seem like much, but when you see someone reach that level of strength from almost nothing...it's incredible.  It's why I love my job and the reason I have such passion for it.
